Following the launch of their brand-new manufacturing and logistics site in Northampton, we are looking to recruit a Fleet & Loading Supervisor on a permanent basis.

ROLE SUMMARYThe Fleet & Loading Supervisor reports directly to the Transport Manager (TM) and supports the day-to-day management of the Transport Department to ensure efficient operations and achievement of business targets. The role provides leadership to the delivery team, coordinating workloads and ensuring deliveries are completed on time and to the required standards. The successful candidate will also support the Transport team with customer and driver queries.
DUTIES INCLUDECompliance- Comply with all HSE and company policies relating to loading operations and daily activities.
- Follow company procedures for dispatching goods and accurately recording damages or missing items.
- Assist the TM with HR, non-compliance and disciplinary matters, acting as a key contact for driver sickness, accidents and vehicle issues.
- Ensure vehicle pre-checks are completed and escalate non-compliance to the TM.
- Complete weekly driver and vehicle audits to maintain legal and company compliance.
- Deliver toolbox talks alongside the TM and maintain records.
- Ensure drivers follow the correct defect reporting process and report issues for repair.
- Assist the TM in complying with DVLA, WTD and company regulations relating to driver infringements.
- Monitor the Davis system for licence checks and report issues to the TM.
- Maintain up-to-date vehicle and driver records.
- Ensure servicing, MOT, RBT and LOLER (Cranex) inspections are completed to schedule.
- Work with the Transport Planner to assess and book agency drivers as required.
- Support the Loading Team with loading completed products onto delivery vehicles.
- Ensure all vehicle checks are completed before deliveries.
- Liaise with the Fleet Coordinator regarding loading activities.
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, a Class 2 (Cat C) HGV licence to assist with vehicle movements, including yard shunting and transport to maintenance providers.
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, a B2 Forklift Licence.
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, ALLMI Lorry Loader (HIAB Crane) qualifications.
- Ensure all work carried out by the delivery team follows good HSE practice.
- Undertake training as required by the TM (e.g. First Aid, IOSH).
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure the team wears the correct PPE and maintains safe working practices.
- Keep work areas tidy and hazard-free.
- Identify training needs and arrange appropriate development.
- Deliver training for new starters and team members where required.
- Support accident investigations and H&S reporting.
- Train colleagues on labelling and dispatch processes to maintain service levels during absences.
- Assist Loading and Factory teams with daily yard inspections to maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
- Assist with planning daily workloads to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Support the Transport Planner with route planning.
- Take ownership of dispatch and labelling processes for outgoing products.
- Help ensure ERP system information is accurate and up to date.
- Respond to emails, calls and other communications as required.
- Promote high standards and expected behaviours across the team.
- Communicate effectively with customers and drivers.
- Ensure vehicle cleaning procedures are followed and report non-compliance.
- Submit driver working hours to payroll for accurate payment processing.
- Liaise with other departments regarding issues that may impact operations.
- Conduct team briefs and participate in daily Transport meetings.
- Promote high standards through personal example.
- Challenge non-conformance within the team and loading bay.
- Ensure team members understand the importance of their role and its impact on wider operations.
- Take leadership of vehicle and personnel movements within the yard.
- Support the TM in implementing continuous improvement initiatives to optimise performance and service quality.
- Assist with the ongoing development of the department using knowledge of loading and dispatch processes.
- Undertake any additional training required by the line manager.
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably assigned.
