Financial Analyst

I'm currently working with a leading UK university on the search for a Financial Analyst on a 12-month fixed term contract. This senior role is based in the south west of London with hybrid working available.

The Finance Analyst will play a key role in supporting the University's strategic and operational decision-making through high-quality financial analysis, modelling and insight. Working closely with senior stakeholders, including SLT and Finance Committee, the postholder will translate complex financial and non-financial data into clear, actionable intelligence.

The role supports budgeting, forecasting, month-end and year-end processes, contributes to the University's medium- and long-term financial planning, and provides leadership and development for trainee finance staff. This is a highly visible role requiring strong analytical capability, stakeholder engagement and a collaborative approach within a higher education environment.

Experience Required:

• Experience working within a Higher Education setting

• Part-qualified or actively studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)

• Proven experience in financial analysis, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting within a complex organisation

• Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables and financial modelling

• Experience analysing large, complex data sets and producing clear, insightful commentary for senior stakeholders

• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-finance colleagues

• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes

• Demonstrable ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and deliver to high standards

• Previous experience within the Higher Education sector (or similar public sector environment) highly desirable

• Line management or mentoring experience desirable
