Our client is a highly respected and extremely prestigious global leader in the integrated energy and chemical industry.

Currently, they are looking for a Financial Accounting & Reporting Specialist to join their dynamic, multicultural organisation in The Hague.


Job Profile for Financial Accounting & Reporting Specialist

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services
  • Coordinate the end-of-month financial closing by collaborating with Finance teams (Treasury, Business Planning and Performance Management, CT&AM, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, GRC) and maintaining documentation and analysis for audit and compliance purposes
  • Prepare auditor-reviewed quarterly consolidated financials and statutory financial statements for multiple entities, ensuring full consolidation of subsidiaries and branch activities per applicable standards
  • Manage the audit of multiple entities by working with external auditors and local management, maintaining internal control documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements
  • Prepare the Directors Report and coordinate the collection of required information from internal stakeholders
  • Support periodic financial and management reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations by aligning with the Tax Unit on tax compliance activities, maintaining the Tax Control Framework, and fulfilling Chamber of Commerce and tax reporting obligations
  • Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts, ensuring updates align with company policy
  • Recommend and implement improvements to Accounting and Reporting guidelines and policies
  • Perform technical accounting analysis and prepare memos to support informed decision-making
  • Drive automation and process improvements in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Advise and support the Finance Supervisor on complex financial matters.
  • Prepare CBS reporting documentation and coordinate monthly and quarterly reports within required timeframes
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience


Candidate Profile for Financial Accounting & Reporting Specialist

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field, supplemented with a post-graduate title (such as CPA, ACCA, RA)
  • A combination of Big 4 and industry experience is a must
  • Minimum of 9 years of progressive work experience in technical accounting, reporting, consolidation, financial statement preparation and external audit coordination
  • Strong understanding and application of IFRS standards
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, S4/HANA, SAP Central Finance, advanced skills in Excel
  • Experience with BPC is a plus
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently, receiving minimal guidance
