We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join the Strategic Planning Department within the Finance & Control function. This role sits within the BAU team, focusing on General Ledger accounting, financial control, regulatory reporting, and financial statement production.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing accounting entries generated through core business processes, managing monthly and quarterly reporting obligations, supporting Head Office reporting requirements, and coordinating the annual financial statement and audit process.
This position offers exposure to a broad range of finance activities, including IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss assessments, legal entity reporting, external audits, and finance transformation initiatives within a complex international financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & ControlLead and coordinate the month-end close process for the UK legal entity.
Own and manage key legal entity financial close activities, including intercompany reporting and reconciliations.
Prepare and review financial reporting submissions for senior management and Head Office.
Support the production of annual statutory financial statements.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of accounting records and financial data.
Coordinate IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) assessments in partnership with Risk and Credit teams.
Prepare FINREP regulatory reporting submissions.
Assess and support the implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain strong financial control and governance frameworks.
Act as a key contact for external auditors, providing audit evidence and technical explanations.
Work closely with Financial Control, Product Control, Treasury, Risk, and other business stakeholders.
Support senior management through insightful financial analysis and reporting.
Build strong working relationships across finance and wider business functions.
Identify opportunities to standardise reporting and improve efficiency across legal entity control activities.
Drive process enhancements, automation initiatives, and operational improvements.
Contribute to regional finance projects, new product initiatives, and infrastructure developments.
Develop and maintain finance policies, procedures, and guidance documentation.
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Experience within Financial Reporting, Management Reporting, or Financial Control.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls.
Experience operating within a complex multinational organisation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to demanding deadlines.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Experience within investment banking, financial services, or financial services audit.
Exposure to IFRS 9 and regulatory reporting requirements such as FINREP.
Knowledge of treasury products, foreign exchange management, and derivatives.
Experience driving process improvement, automation, and finance transformation initiatives.
