Job Description: Financial Accountant Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team on an initial six-month Fixed Term Contract, with a salary of £80k Pro Rata. This hybrid role is based in SW London and blends strong accounting expertise with HR-related financial management responsibilities. As a preferred candidate, being a Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, or equivalent) will set you apart in this opportunity. You will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the company while collaborating with HR to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in people-related financial processes.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records by preparing and recording financial transactions in compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational guidelines.
  • Oversee payroll processing, employee benefits reconciliation, and other HR-related financial tasks to ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
  • Review budgetary allocations for HR initiatives, including training programs, recruitment campaigns, and employee engagement activities.
  • Monitor and analyze account balances related to compensation, taxes, and benefits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and local labor laws.
  • Develop and prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow projections, with a focus on HR cost allocations.
  • Aid in audits by supporting both internal teams and external auditors with relevant financial and HR data.
  • Collaborate with the People Ops/HR team to maintain accuracy in payroll tax filings, employee reimbursements, and other accounting-related HR matters.
  • Improve financial controls and enforce policies designed to strengthen operational efficiency across finance and HR.
  • Liaise with department leads to assist with workforce planning budgets and financial forecasts related to hiring and retention strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACCA, ACA, ACMA, or equivalent certification required.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Accountant, with exposure to HR-related financial responsibilities.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and payroll systems. Knowledge of HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP) is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with labor laws and regulations relating to payroll, employee taxation, and benefit administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial insights to diverse audiences.
  • A proactive approach to collaborative work, especially in fostering relationships across finance, HR, and other departments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Day-to-day
  • Prepare and post journal entries for HR-related costs, including payroll, employee benefits, and retirement contributions.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Monitor deadlines for tax filings, benefit payments, and accounting close processes.
  • Field questions from employees about payroll concerns, reimbursement claims, and other finance-related HR topics.
  • Assist leaders with crafting financial policies and procedures that ensure compliance with regulations while supporting company culture.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure the accuracy of financial data in collaboration with internal and external auditors.
  • Support budgeting processes by providing insights into workforce-related expense projections.
  • Collaborate with team members in finance and HR to address challenges and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
