Financial Accountant

This role is responsible for supporting the design, documentation, and ongoing enhancement of a SOX-compliant control environment within an insurance organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with finance teams to ensure that financial processes are well-controlled, clearly documented, and aligned with regulatory and SOX requirements.

This is fixed term, 1 year contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and implementation of SOX-compliant controls across key financial processes.
• Develop and maintain process documentation including narratives, flowcharts, and risk & control matrices (RCMs).
• Identify key risks within financial processes and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
• Ensure documentation is clear, consistent, and audit ready.
• Partner with process owners to embed controls into operations.
• Evaluate existing controls and recommend improvements.
• Support remediation of control deficiencies.

Testing & Audit Coordination

• Support SOX testing activities.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Assist in addressing audit findings.

Insurance Accounting & Process Understanding

• Apply knowledge of insurance accounting (premiums, claims, reserves, reinsurance).
• Work with underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams.

Process Improvement & Governance

• Identify process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Contribute to strengthening the SOX framework.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant, 5 years PQE.
• Insurance or Financial services experience.
• Strong SOX and internal controls knowledge.
• Role based in Dundrum.
• Technical Insurance accounting experience essential.
