We are looking for an enthusiastic Financial Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team in our Rotterdam office.

THE POSITION

As Financial Accountant you will be part of the Financial Accounting team, which is responsible for the accounting of 11 entities covering complex areas such as (renewable) commodity trading activities, hedge accounting, derivatives and IFRS 16, primarily for the Benelux region. The team collaborates closely with other departments based in Rotterdam (Business Control, Risk, Front and Back Office), as well as with similar teams located in Hamburg (Germany) and Baar (Switzerland).

To further strengthen the team and improve the quality of our accounting process, we are looking for an Financial Accountant who gets enthusiastic about understanding complicated systems and processes in order to guarantee the reliability of data.

You will contribute to building an dynamic accounting organization within the Benelux and work across all teams to further enhance our accounting organization and support our business and operations at every level.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in our monthly accounting and reporting cycle;
• Execute monthly internal controls as per our Internal Control Framework;
• Assist in questions from internal and for external auditors;
• Run and support improvement projects across the VARO finance functions.

YOUR PROFILE

• A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an international environment;
• A HBO degree in Accounting/Control;
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP;
• Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and verbal;
• Knowledge of the oil or fuel (trading) business and derivatives is considered a plus.
