Practice Area - Finance Function (Banking Sector):

Financial institutions have evolved significantly over the past decade, driven by increased regulatory requirements and competition. At the heart of banking, the finance function plays a critical role in ensuring financial stability, regulatory compliance, and the strategic allocation of capital across businesses and markets.


What you'll do:

As a (Senior) Business Consultant with Finance and Capital Markets expertise, you will be leading transformation projects for our global banking clients in areas such as accounting and financial reporting, asset & liability management, financial planning and analysis, tax planning, and compliance.

You will assist clients in developing strategic plans and providing insights that align with their business goals and objectives. You will participate in, manage, and lead consulting projects from execution to completion, ensuring delivery within time, scope, and budget.

At a senior level, you will help identify new business opportunities, participate in proposal writing, and contribute to the growth of the consulting practice. You will also act as a subject matter expert, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients.


Your Main Activities Are:

  • Business vs Accounting P&L reconciliation
  • Accounting and Financial Control
  • Analytical review of financial indicators
  • Contribution to various projects either Business, IT, or organization driven


Profile and Skills to Success:

  • MSc degree in Finance, Business, or related areas (Business School, University Graduate, Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance)
  • Advanced level of English (Portuguese required; French is a plus)
  • Previous professional experience in audit, accounting, or reporting
  • Experience working in an international environment
  • For management roles: at least 3 years of experience
  • Appetite for understanding Capital Markets financial instruments and business models
  • Strong sense of discipline and ability to step back
  • Client satisfaction-oriented mindset


What you'll bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Master's degree or relevant certification (CFA, ACCA, CPA) preferred.
  • Experience: 6-11 years of experience in consulting or within the Finance function of global banks, with deep understanding of financial processes, systems, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Finance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, regulatory compliance, treasury, and ALM.
  • Capital Markets Product Control:
  • Expertise in controlling and reporting for capital markets products (derivatives, fixed income, FX, equities, structured products).
  • Understanding of product valuation, P&L attribution, balance sheet substantiation, and daily/monthly reporting.
  • Experience with front-to-back workflows and collaboration with Front Office, Risk, and Operations teams.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Basel III, IFRS, GAAP, and related banking regulations.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to lead complex finance projects from analysis to implementation.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong capability to assess financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations.
  • Familiarity with visualization and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Power BI or Oracle Apex is important
  • Experience with Python and Elastic Search is an advantage
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage effectively with CFOs, Product Controllers, and Risk Managers.
  • Process Improvement: Track record of optimizing financial performance and control frameworks.
  • Technology Savvy: Knowledge of systems like Murex, Calypso, Summit, Bloomberg, or equivalent, and integration with GL tools (SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
  • Risk & Control: Solid understanding of financial control frameworks, risk principles, and reconciliations.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal skills with experience mentoring junior consultants.
  • Languages: Portuguese and English mandatory; French a plus.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel for short-term international assignments (e.g., France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg).
