Role Title: Finance Business Partner - FP&A (Interim)

We anticipate paying a salary from £48,000 - £62,500 DOE

Location: Derby office - Hybrid working flexibility

Role Purpose:

The Finance Business Partner - FP&A plays a key role in supporting the business planning cycle, with particular responsibility for managing overheads and resource planning. This role is central to helping the organisation make informed, forward-looking decisions by providing clear financial insight and challenge.

A major focus will be on improving and embedding financial processes and reporting while also supporting the transition to a new ERP system ensuring we are set up for the future.

Success in this role depends on building strong relationships across the business-working closely with teams to understand their needs, identify opportunities for cost efficiency, and provide solutions that support better planning and performance.

The role suits someone who takes initiative, is curious and solution-focused, and who enjoys working collaboratively in a small, evolving finance team.

Key Responsibilities and Required Experience:

The Finance Business Partner - FP&A will be part of a small, developing Finance team of 12. The role is a key business partner for six of the executive leadership team, and their direct reports, supporting a growing cost base.

  • Financial performance reporting, analysis and business partnering to senior business leaders who own departmental budgets. Proactively managing financial issues to resolution, ensuring costs are accrued appropriately and that cash is responsibly managed.
  • Maintain rolling cost and cash forecasts to track against annual targets and advise the business on how to course correct. Formalise these into formal quarterly forecast updates.
  • Prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecasts for several business departments and support all aspects of the budget under the direction of the Senior Reporting & Forecasting Manager. Load all budgets and forecasts into the relevant IT systems ensuring the P&L and cash flow are accurate and the balance sheet represents the correct accounting treatments.
  • Support the process to deliver an approved annual update for the business five year plan. Work with the Strategy and Business Development team to align financial forecasts with the long term business model and investment plans.
    Set the business cost rates during the planning cycle and manage, analyse and report on cost rate under/over recoveries, and partner with the business to manage variances.


Mandatory Experience, Training or/and qualifications

  • Qualified accountant: CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Strong MS Excel skills

Beneficial Experience, Training or/and qualifications

  • SAP experience would be an advantage
