Field Sales Executive

Location: Slough/Reading

Hours of Work: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

Role: Field-based with HQ visits and offsite meetings

Salary: up to £25,000-£27,000 per annum + 10% performance-related bonus

Instore, part of Smiths News, is recruiting a Field Sales Representative to expand retail distribution by selling products within the Independent Retail Sector (Convenience, CTN, Grocery, etc.). Candidates should have field sales experience and demonstrate their abilities to join our team on behalf of our Global Client.

Our client is a well-known household brand supplying supermarkets, high street stores, garden centres, and e-commerce platforms. Their high-quality products and attractive display options are ideal for the independent market, supported by engaging marketing strategies. Instore partners with the client to provide field sales services.

This role involves managing a designated territory, visiting retailers to promote new services, and acting as the key liaison between the brand, Instore, and Smiths News, ensuring effective communication.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Drive sales and distribution targets, engaging with business owners to complete sales.
  2. Develop strong customer relationships and identify new distribution opportunities.
  3. Adopt an entrepreneurial approach.
  4. Identify key accounts with bulk distribution opportunities.
  5. Maximize brand presence within the trade in your territory.
  6. Complete all calls within the territory plan daily.
  7. Maintain a high-performing field mentality to meet KPIs.
  8. Communicate effectively with colleagues and keep the Line Manager informed.
  9. Proactively escalate and resolve issues.
  10. Maintain expert knowledge of the client's business and products.
  11. Consistently execute high standards of work.
  12. Provide constructive feedback to help drive client growth strategies.
  13. Complete administrative tasks efficiently.
  14. Understand the retail landscape for strategic advantage.
  15. Utilize tools to facilitate ongoing customer orders.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in sales or retail, preferably in FMCG/consumer goods
  • Experience as a Brand Ambassador is advantageous
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to meet sales targets and KPIs in remote field activities
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Sales-driven with educational approaches
  • Analytical skills and a track record of sales success
  • Ability to influence and implement change
  • Competent in documenting ideas and actions for performance improvement
