Family Law Solicitor

Lucy Legal LLP is a respected family law practice headquartered in Esher, serving an affluent and discerning clientele across Surrey and the Home Counties. We are known for combining forensic legal expertise with genuine empathy-a rare quality in a practice that handles some of life's most sensitive moments. Our reputation rests on delivering commercially sharp advice whilst maintaining the utmost discretion and care.
This contract opportunity offers something increasingly rare in regional practice: the chance to build meaningful expertise and client relationships within a thriving, high-net-worth market without the pressure of immediate equity partnership. You will inherit a varied caseload spanning divorce, financial remedy proceedings, children disputes, and cohabitation matters-the full spectrum of modern family law. What makes this genuinely exciting is the complexity and sophistication of the work. You will frequently advise clients navigating multi-million-pound asset divisions, international elements, and disputes where both legal acumen and emotional intelligence are paramount. This is practice where your technical skill directly translates to protecting vulnerable people through turbulent transitions.
Your day-to-day will balance client advisory work with robust case progression. You might draft a meticulously structured pre-nuptial agreement for a serial entrepreneur on Monday, progress financial disclosure in a £3m asset case on Wednesday, and prepare witness statements for a First Appointment Hearing on Friday. You will brief counsel on complex matters, handle routine advocacy yourself in the family courts, and collaborate closely with senior practitioners on cases that demand creative problem-solving. Equally important is your role in maintaining Lucy Legal's presence in the local market-whether through attending professional networking events, engaging with community initiatives, or simply building relationships that sustain long-term instructions.
For the right candidate, this contract role can become the springboard for deeper integration into the practice. We value practitioners who demonstrate genuine commitment to family law, who listen actively to clients, and who see commercial awareness not as corporate jargon but as a tool to achieve better outcomes. You will receive mentoring from experienced fee-earners, exposure to high-value asset work, and the space to develop specialist knowledge in a practice where such expertise is actively rewarded.
