Warrington Best Start Family Hubs provide a welcoming, inclusive space for families across the borough, supporting children from conception to age of 5 and continuing support up to age 19 - 25 for young people with SEND. Best Start Family hubs are a one stop shop, cutting-edge supporting families with parenting, finance, play and community-based support to help children and families thrive, while working closely with health, education, social care and community partners to offer coordinated, accessible support for all families.

The role

We are recruiting for a full-time Family Hub Practitioner for a fixed-term contract of 18 months.

Duties include:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate a year-round programme of play and learning sessions for children and their parents/carers, including for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
    Engage and build positive relationships with parents, carers and children, ensuring families can access the support they need helping to deliver the Best Start Family Hub model.
  • Consult with parents, carers and families to shape activities and services within the Family Hub offer.
  • Work closely with children's social care, health, education and community partners to coordinate service delivery.
  • Use and maintain management information systems to record work and monitor progress accurately.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
What's needed?
  • Knowledge of child development, special educational needs and disabilities, safeguarding thresholds and procedures, health and safety, and the Best Start In Life agenda.
  • Experience of organising and managing activities for children, young people and families, including planning for children with disabilities.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-agency team and build positive relationships with families and partners.
  • Effective communication, organisational skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of children, young people and families.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
