Job Description
Family Coach Opportunity in Southampton

Southampton City Council's Pathways Through Care Team is seeking a Family Coach to support children in care, focusing on identity, reunification and post reunification strengthening of relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Support children in foster, residential or semi independent homes, building relationships and facilitating communication with families.
  • Work with children to develop life story narratives and help them understand the reasons behind care placement.
  • Lead routine visits, personal and case supervision, and collaborative planning for reunification or enhanced contact.
  • Advocate for children's wishes, promote identity, education and well being, and assist families in planning for permanency.
  • Provide post reunification support and works toward the safe and appropriate ending of local authority involvement.
Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with children in care or related settings.
  • Formal qualifications in practice or related courses (e.g., social work, child protection).
  • Reflective, assured practitioner with trauma informed approach and strong assessment skills.
Location

Based in the Southampton City Centre Civic Centre, with flexible/remote options and travel to support children placed outside the city.

Salary

£37,280 - £40,778 per annum, starting at £37,280 with annual progression.
