Job Description

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of warehouse and office facilities within a fast paced logistics environment. This role oversees maintenance activities, manages contractors and leads on site teams to support business continuity and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Facilities & Building Maintenance

  • Lead day to day maintenance operations across warehouse and office facilities.
  • Ensure building fabric (floors, walls, roofing, docks, doors, etc.) is maintained to a high standard.
  • Manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive works via the Planon system.

Equipment & Infrastructure

  • Oversee maintenance of critical infrastructure, including dock levellers, roller doors, HVAC, lighting, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate specialist contractors for servicing and statutory inspections.
  • Minimise operational disruption during maintenance activity.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal standards.
  • Maintain statutory inspection records (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, lifts).
  • Conduct regular site inspections and manage permit to work processes.
  • Oversee waste management suppliers and contractor inductions.

Contractor, Budget & Team Management

  • Manage external contractors and suppliers through Planon, ensuring value for money and service quality.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities and approve invoices.
  • Supervise on site maintenance staff, reception and cleaning teams, providing guidance and workload planning.

Documentation & Audit

  • Maintain accurate, audit ready maintenance records.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in facilities or maintenance supervision.
  • Proven contractor management experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of facilities and building maintenance.
  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Health & Safety qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH desirable).
  • Experience within a warehouse or logistics environment (preferred).
  • Organised, solutions focused and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive and hands on leadership style.
  • Detail oriented with strong commercial awareness.
  • Calm, resilient and effective under pressure.
