Purpose of RoleWe are seeking an experienced Facilities Operations Manager to take full operational responsibility for a growing Hard FM contract valued at approximately £2.5 million per annum, supporting Avanti West Coast across a nationwide rail portfolio.
Job DescriptionThis role will oversee service delivery across the Avanti West Coast train line (Glasgow to London Euston), covering train stations and associated buildings. Whilst the contract is national, the ideal candidate will be Manchester-based (Birmingham also considered). Regular travel will be required, including weekly overnight stays depending on operational needs.
With five years remaining on the contract and strong growth potential, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious FM professional looking to progress towards future Account Lead responsibility.
Responsibilities- Full accountability for Hard FM service delivery across the Avanti West Coast portfolio.
- Leading the delivery of PPM and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, AC, gas, and minor works services.
- Managing a team of 4 direct reports and 15 engineers operating across multiple rail sites.
- Ensuring operational performance, SFG20 compliance, and service excellence across all locations.
- Driving continuous improvement and strategic development of the contract.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, particularly with key stakeholders based in Crewe and Birmingham.
- Ensuring HSE compliance and promoting a strong safety-first culture across the operation.
- Managing works across geographically dispersed sites, with flexibility to work away when required.
- Proven experience managing a Hard FM contract of similar scale and complexity.
- Strong operational leadership background within Facilities Management
- Experience leading multi-site teams, including direct reports and field-based engineers.
- Experience delivering contract performance.
- A confident client-facing professional with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ambition and capability to progress into an Account Lead role in the future.
