Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join the commercial team based in Belfast.
Your new role
Working closely with the Commercial Director, Operations Team, and Supply Chain Partners, the successful candidate will be responsible for analysing tender documentation, obtaining supplier quotations, identifying project risks, and preparing cost-effective pricing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and construction projects.

- Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and contract requirements.
- Carry out quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
- Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Develop comprehensive tender submissions within deadlines.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities during the tender process.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors as required.
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings.
- Support value engineering initiatives to maximise project competitiveness.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in handover meetings with operational teams following successful contract awards.
- Monitor market trends, material prices, and labour costs
What you'll need to succeed
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in an Estimator role within the civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, contracts, and procurement processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software packages.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience in pricing, civil engineering, groundworks, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, ICES, etc.).
