About the RoleAssure Personnel Ltd are recruiting for an Estimator on behalf of a well-established specialist engineering firm in Braintree. This role focuses on supporting the special structures department by preparing precise quotations for steelwork enquiries and producing detailed technical and commercial proposals for tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Steel Estimating: Prepare detailed cost estimates and take-offs from 2D/3D engineering drawings and specifications for structural and architectural steel projects (e.g., staircases, balustrades, and structural frameworks).
• Pricing & Analysis: Calculate material, labour, and production costs, maintaining accuracy and compliance with tender procedures.
• Supplier Liaison: Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and finishing processes (powder coating, galvanizing).
• Collaboration: Work closely with the design and production teams to ensure cost-effective and feasible solutions.

• Steel/Metal Experience: Proven experience in estimating within the structural or architectural steel industry is essential.
• Excel Wizard: Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including the ability to build, manage, and audit complex pricing models and spreadsheets.
• Technical Drawing Interpretation: Strong ability to read and interpret technical, structural, and architectural drawings.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to deal with clients, suppliers, and internal team members.
