Job Description

My London based Local Government client is looking for an experienced ER Manager to join the team on a permanent basis to drive forward the Resolution Framework model and manage the team day to day.

The Employee Relations Service is a key function within People Services, providing expert support and leadership on all aspects of employee relations. The service is responsible for the effective management of complex casework, the operational delivery of the Resolution Framework, and the day-to-day relationship management of outsourced occupational health and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) services. The team champions a resolution-focused, inclusive, and data-driven approach to employee relations, supporting the organisation's commitment to fairness, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.

As Employee Relations Service Manager, you are a member of the extended Leadership Team, playing a key role in delivering high-quality, resident-focused services. You oversee the daily operations of the Employee Relations Service, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and delivery of borough priorities. You manage service improvements and resources, harness innovation, and maintain cost-effectiveness and responsiveness. Through collaboration with your Assistant Director and other leaders, you contribute to an integrated approach across departments, supporting governance and compliance with policies. You maintain a strong focus on the needs of Boroughs residents and staff, ensuring your service is responsive, accessible, and aligned with organisational values.

Top things about you
  • You are a role model for our values, providing confidence to your service and creating the conditions for our people and residents to succeed.
  • Extensive employment law and case work management.
  • You work proactively with stakeholders across the council and partner organisations, representing your service at a senior level.
  • You are organised and analytical, able to interpret and present complex information to senior leaders and your team.
  • You are self-motivated and able to manage your own time effectively, working to your own and others' deadlines.
  • You can deliver through significant change, working with your Assistant Director to make improvements across your service and team.

This role is on a hybrid working basis.
