Job Description

NES Fircroft continues to partner with our valued cabling client, actively sourcing for a number of Project Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) roles in various locations in Scotland. These roles are construction site based and responsible for conducting all site-based project activities within the Environmental scope. The selected candidate will analyze contract requirements and support project team members on environmental topics. They will also develop and implement site-specific Environmental Plans in accordance with contractual, client, and regulatory standards.


Please note, these roles are assessed as Outside IR35. Ltd company engagement is available pending a personal company assessment.


Site Locations
  • Wick, Caithness
  • Peterhead, Aberdeenshire

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Act as the Environmental representative on site, proactively managing environmental aspects.
  • Promote best environmental practices across site operations.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to site personnel to ensure understanding of project requirements.
  • Conduct compliance audits and checks.
  • Identify gaps and suggest improvements to management systems and processes.
  • Highlight non-compliance issues and escalate or intervene as necessary.
  • Lead root cause analyses for environmental incidents and ensure appropriate corrective actions.

Main Tasks
  • Develop and implement site environmental programs, including inspections and ecological surveys.
  • Support applications for environmental licenses or consents.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental mitigation measures and management systems.
  • Provide training on environmental requirements.
  • Regularly visit site operations to monitor performance and compliance.
  • Deliver toolbox talks on environmental risks and controls.
  • Participate in planning to prevent environmental incidents and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and deviations, determining root causes and corrective actions.
  • Review subcontractors' environmental documentation and RAMS.
  • Attend client and contractor meetings and act as the client interface for environmental management.
  • Maintain environmental records and report on performance indicators.
  • Record observations and develop environmental lessons learned.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree or diploma in Environment and/or Ecology or equivalent.
  • Valid CSCS or CCNSG Card (or ability to obtain one).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an ECoW/Advisor.
  • Membership with the Association of ECOW's (desirable).
  • Active CPD as an ECoW/Advisor.
  • Experience on HVDC/Renewable Energy projects (preferred).
  • Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and consenting processes.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with environmental plans and procedures.
  • Client-facing with confidence monitoring contractors.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, team player.
  • Proficient in English and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK Driving License.
