Environment Manager - 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

Overview

Are you an experienced Environmental Manager seeking an exciting role with major projects in the construction sector? Passionate about driving environmental sustainability and innovation on-site? We are recruiting for an Environment Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover). The role is site-based, leading a regional team across the South from Cambridge to Brighton, including key London projects. You will work closely with clients to uphold high environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Environmental Advisors across multiple high-profile projects in sectors such as energy, defence, rail, and healthcare.
• Collaborate with clients and delivery teams to embed sustainability best practices and ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO50001 standards.
• Conduct regular site visits and audits to identify risks, promote innovation, and improve environmental performance from pre-construction to project completion.
• Support incident investigations and deliver workshops to upskill teams.
• Report on trends, performance, and risks, ensuring stakeholder engagement and regulatory approvals are managed effectively.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience managing environmental performance on large-scale construction projects.
• Technical expertise in ISO14001/50001, sustainability assessments (BREEAM, LEED), and relevant environmental legislation.
• A degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline; IEMA or similar professional membership is preferred.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach teams and adapt to changing project needs.
