Prospero Teaching is looking for an experienced and committed Qualified English Teacher to join a secondary school in Southampton to cover a period of staff absence. The role begins Monday 13th April and is expected to run for approximately ten weeks, covering the summer term.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated English specialist who can step confidently into a full-time timetable, deliver strong lessons, and support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will take on full teacher responsibilities including planning, marking, assessment and departmental participation.
The Role:- Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 & KS4
- Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with departmental schemes of work
- Complete full planning, marking, assessments and feedback
- Support pupils of varying abilities to make progress
- Maintain strong behaviour expectations and a positive classroom climate
- Work closely with the English department during the cover period
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language & Literature
- Experience teaching KS3 & KS4
- Confident with planning and marking
- A reliable and adaptable classroom practitioner
- Someone ready to start 13th April and commit to the full 10-week period

- Contract Length: Approx. 10 weeks
- Hours: Full-time (Monday-Friday)
- Salary:£32,916 - £51,047 per annum (paid to scale)
- Key Stages: KS3-KS4
- QTS/QTLS required
- English teaching experience in secondary schools
- Up-to-date safeguarding training (can be provided)
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
- Two recent teaching references
- Free accredited CPD including safeguarding & behaviour management
- A dedicated consultant for ongoing support throughout placement
- Smooth interview and onboarding process
