Job Description

Position: English Teacher Contract Type: Full-time, long-term temporary Start Date: 8 September 2026 Location: Haringey, London, UK Salary: £37,870-£56,154 per annum, M1-UPS3 Salary will reflect experience and position on the relevant Outer London teacher pay scale. Develop Confident Readers, Writers and Thinkers Teach Now is working with a diverse Haringey secondary school to appoint a creative and committed English Teacher from September. The school is looking for an English Teacher who can encourage students to engage thoughtfully with literature, communicate with confidence and improve the accuracy of their written work. You will teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, using assessment effectively to support progress. The department has a collaborative approach and values teachers who bring energy, strong subject knowledge and high expectations to the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and teaching engaging English lessons
  • Delivering English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4
  • Preparing students for GCSE examinations
  • Developing reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills
  • Assessing work and providing purposeful feedback
  • Supporting students with SEN and English as an additional language
  • Maintaining positive behaviour and an inclusive classroom culture
  • Contributing to curriculum planning, moderation and intervention
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Recent experience teaching English in a secondary school
  • Strong knowledge of KS3 and GCSE English
  • A relevant degree or strong academic background
  • Effective classroom and behaviour-management skills
  • The ability to inspire students with different starting points
  • A commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
  • Availability for a full-time, long-term role
