Job Description
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent (Flexible)

GSL are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English to support students in a secondary school setting across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role involves delivering high-quality English lessons and helping students develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a passion for language and literature.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff in a forward-thinking and high-performing school environment, helping students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including:

  • Delivering engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of English through creative teaching approaches
  • Supporting exam preparation and assessment readiness
  • Monitoring and supporting student progress through targeted feedback
  • Contributing to enrichment and extracurricular activities

As a Teacher of English, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic progress and personal development. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to a positive and collaborative learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons
  • Inspire students through engaging teaching of literature and language
  • Prepare students for assessments and examinations
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
  • Work collaboratively within a successful and supportive department
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and a love of learning
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English education
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Commitment to raising achievement and supporting all learners
  • A proactive and collaborative approach
