Job Description

Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £125 - £205 per day (DOE)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term with Temp to Perm Option

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to become a vital part of a dedicated team committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.

About the English Teacher Role:
As an English Teacher, you will shape the educational experiences of our students. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored learning experiences that meet each student's needs.
  • Creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Nurturing students' emotional well-being alongside their academic growth.
  • Implementing the school's ethos and policies in your teaching.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Curriculum Responsibilities:
You will adopt creative teaching approaches, focusing on students' interests and learning styles. Your duties will include:

  • Planning and evaluating personalised learning programmes promoting development across physical, emotional, social, cultural, and moral domains.
  • Teaching individual students and small groups, adapting lessons as needed.
  • Supporting students in exam preparation and abilities assessment.
  • Supervising pupils during exams and presentations.
  • Contributing to curriculum development to enhance overall pupil development.

Pupil Engagement:
You will build meaningful relationships with pupils by:

  • Adhering to safe working practices and health and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership and colleagues on course and assessment development.

General Duties:
Additional responsibilities include:

  • Prioritising pupil safeguarding and welfare.
  • Regularly reviewing your teaching methods with senior staff.
  • Fostering trust, understanding, and respect with students.
  • Serving as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Providing constructive feedback for student progress.

Assessment and Reporting:
You will:

  • Assess emotional well-being, learning, and behaviour using available tools.
  • Maintain detailed assessment records and prepare reports for reviews and meetings.

Resources:
Utilise available resources effectively to enrich the learning environment.
