English & Psychology Teacher - URGENT
St Albans, Hertfordshire Full-Time November 2026 Start £182-£278 per day

Tradewind Recruitment is urgently recruiting an English & Psychology Teacher for a supportive setting in St Albans, working with students aged 11-16.
This is a minimum one-term assignment, with the possibility of a permanent position if the placement works well for both the school and successful candidate.
The role would suit an experienced English Teacher with Psychology or SEMH experience who wants to work with small groups and make a genuine difference to pupils who have struggled in mainstream education.
Starting November 2nd - with an earlier start potentially available for the right candidate.
Temporary Post - with possible permanent opportunity for the next Academic year.
The Role
- Teach English and Psychology-related content to pupils aged 11-16
- Small teaching groups of just 2-8 students
- Support pupils working below age-related expectations
- Deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs
- Help rebuild confidence, motivation and engagement with education
- Teach areas including GCSE English, reading, writing, comprehension and communication
- Build positive relationships and provide consistent support
- Manage behaviour calmly and confidently
What We're Looking For
We would particularly like to hear from teachers with:
- QTS and strong English teaching experience
- Experience teaching English to secondary-aged pupils
- Psychology knowledge or SEMH experience
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Confidence supporting pupils with low prior attainment
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Resilience and the ability to adapt to individual needs
Primary Teachers with QTS are also encouraged to apply if they have strong English knowledge, excellent behaviour management and experience supporting pupils with additional or behavioural needs.
