Engineering Technical Lead

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU?

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in complex environments.
• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer or Engineering Lead.
• Strong technical background in Java and enterprise application development.
• Experience working in distributed / nearshore / offshore team setups.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across teams and cultures.
• Ability to lead without formal authority.
• Coaching mindset, high level of ownership and strong interpersonal maturity.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Native or near-native Portuguese.
• Willingness to travel to the Netherlands regularly, especially around PI/ SAFe events.

GOOD TO HAVE:

• Experience with SAFe.
• Experience in enterprise, public sector or regulated environments.
• Experience with CI/CD, operational stability and DevOps collaboration.
• Experience helping teams improve onboarding, alignment and distributed collaboration.

HOW YOUR DAILY JOB WILL BE?

• Act as the local technical lead and trusted go-to person for Portugal-based engineers.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in Java and related engineering practices.
• Support engineers in refinement, implementation, code quality, technical problem solving and delivery discipline.
• Help Portugal-based engineers integrate effectively into the way of working of Dutch teams.
• Bridge differences in communication style, expectations and team culture between Portugal and the Netherlands.
• Build strong working relationships with Dutch Scrum Masters, architects, team leads and other stakeholders.
• Improve clarity, ownership, predictability and collaboration across locations.
• Participate in Scrum / SAFe ceremonies and help teams improve technical readiness and execution.
• Contribute to engineering quality, CI/CD practices, operational stability and continuous improvement.
