Engineering Service Director - Refrigeration Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Service Director - Refrigeration is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and commercial growth of the national refrigeration service business within Integral UK Ltd.

The role holds full P&L responsibility for the refrigeration service division and will lead the development and delivery of operational strategy to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery across the UK.

The postholder will act as the senior figurehead for the refrigeration service department, representing the business internally and externally, driving growth through new client acquisition, expansion of existing contracts, and maintaining strong relationships with industry stakeholders and trade organisations.

Strategic Leadership

• Lead and develop the national refrigeration service strategy, ensuring alignment with wider Cooling Tech & JLL WPM UK business objectives.
• Act as the senior representative and face of the refrigeration service division, promoting the business both internally and externally.
• Build strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry bodies.
• Represent the business with relevant industry trade organisations and professional groups.

Operational Management

• Provide operational oversight for the national refrigeration service delivery team, ensuring high service standards and contract performance.
• Support the management team with technical guidance and leadership, ensuring best practice in refrigeration engineering and compliance.
• Ensure consistent operational processes across all regions.
• Drive operational efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction.

Financial and Commercial Accountability

• Hold full Profit & Loss responsibility for the refrigeration service business (currently circa £8m turnover).
• Manage budgets, financial performance, forecasting, and margin improvement initiatives.
• Ensure strong commercial governance and financial control, maintaining compliance with internal financial guard rails.
• Maintain strong contractual awareness and ensure commercial obligations within contracts are effectively managed.

• Minimum 10+ years' experience leading a refrigeration service business or division.
• Demonstrable experience with full P&L responsibility.
• Proven experience operationally managing refrigeration service delivery teams.
• Experience of growing service portfolios through new clients and contract expansion.
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness within service-based contracts.
• Experience supporting management teams with technical refrigeration expertise.
• Experience operating in multi-site or national service environments.
• Strong strategic leadership and operational management capability.
• Highly developed commercial and financial acumen.
• Ability to build, lead, and motivate national operational teams.
• Strong technical credibility within refrigeration engineering.
• Ability to operate effectively within fast paced service environments.
• Visible, credible leader who can represent the business externally.
• Results driven with strong commercial focus.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple national priorities.
• Strong communicator capable of engaging both technical and executive audiences.

Desirable Skills

• Alternatively strong experience in commercial refrigeration systems, ideally with CO refrigeration technology knowledge.

• Flexible and able to undertake national travel at short notice.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification L5 & Above preferably in Refrigeration / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
• IOSH Managing Safely
