Our Port is ideally located in the South-East of England, perfect for short-sea shipping and handling a variety of cargoes from the UK and Europe including timber, steel, aggregates and dry bulks, as well as recycled waste products and cereals.
As an Engineering Team we have recently completed a major refurbishment of our 90 year old Dry Dock, a £multi-million transformation of our fishing marina in and installed a shore-power project for £800k. In this role you'll also be working on Coast Protection Schemes, Lock Gate refurbishment as well as potentially extensive paving, warehouse, and quay wall projects.
Key Tasks- Lead on projects whilst fully engaging with the Port's Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture with respect to risk assessments, method statements and statutory responsibilities, demonstrating the Port's policies and procedures at all times.
- Develop, monitor and manage project schedules and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
- Contribute to the procurement process for the supply of goods and services required by the Engineering Team for project delivery ensuring the product/service is fit for purpose, cost effective and meets the Port's Values.
- Draft tender packages and carry out tender assessments ensuring that the project brief can be fulfilled within requirements.
- Oversee on-site Contractors, monitor site works (including safe systems of work), undertake quality control and track progress against project deadlines.
- Preferably degree educated or similar in Civil Engineering, a construction related discipline, or other Engineering disciplines with experience of suitably sized projects.
- You'll ideally have a working knowledge of, or experience of administering Engineering & Construction Contracts or other standard forms of contract, with anything in a maritime setting being a bonus.
- With such a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to work with you will need strong leadership and influencing skills to bring them along with the journey through the project lifecycle.
- The ability to engage and clearly communicate at all levels and easily able to switch communication style to match a range of audiences will be essential for successful project outcomes.
- AutoCAD or other drawing skills would be a distinct advantage both for new and existing projects and assets.
- Salary - Up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience
