Job Description

Sanderson are proud to be partnering with a leading financial services organisation undergoing a major digital transformation. As part of this journey, they are looking to appoint multiple Engineering Managers to help shape high-performing teams and drive technical excellence across the business.

As an Engineering Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in growing and leading talented engineering teams, embedding modern development practices, and contributing to the organisation's technical strategy. Working closely with product, architecture, and delivery teams, you'll help drive innovation, foster a culture of continuous learning, and ensure technical delivery aligns with broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and scale high-performing engineering teams through effective recruitment, coaching, and career development.

  • Champion engineering excellence by defining best practices, modern tooling, and architectural standards.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across delivery teams.

  • Contribute to architectural discussions and ensure alignment with business goals and technical strategy.

  • Support engineers through regular 1:1s, mentoring, and technical guidance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, and Delivery to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Drive adoption of modern software development practices (Agile, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud-first engineering).

Skills & Experience:

For Senior Engineers moving into Management:

  • Hands-on experience with Java, React/Angular, or similar modern technologies.

  • Strong mentoring skills and a passion for developing others.

  • Interest in shaping technical direction and team culture beyond individual contribution.

For Experienced People Managers:

  • Proven track record of developing and leading high-performing engineering teams.

  • Strong understanding of agile delivery and modern engineering practices.

  • Collaborative leadership style with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

For Both:

  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and building inclusive teams.

  • Strong alignment to engineering excellence, autonomy, and growth.

This is a full-time, permanent role, offering a starting salary up to £72,000 (DOE) and a fully remote working model.
