- Job Title: Lead Software Engineer
- Salary: £90,440 - £123,160 (depending on location)
- Location: Edinburgh and London
- Hours: Full-time
- Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our Edinburgh or London Office.

You'll play a key role in delivering reliable, scalable, and feature-packed software solutions. Commercial Banking division has a rich heritage of supporting businesses and the economic prosperity of the nation, and you can make a real impact in how this is done.
What you'll do- Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle to design, build and deliver maintainable, testable, observable and resilient software systems.
- Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives.
- Use agile tools, methodologies and data to monitor progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful implementations to live.
- Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team.
- Management of Third Party Suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs.
- Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve our offerings.
- Accept 24/7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency and performance.
- Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry standards and regulations.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
- Strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with at least two of the following languages and frameworks (React, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Java 17+, Spring Boot and relational databases).
- Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, DevOps, and cloud.
- Experience of agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the E2E software development lifecycle.
- Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making. Excellent written and verbal communication to collaborate with a diverse range of collaborators.
- Experience of managing Third Party Suppliers in the context of providing software solutions, including the configuration and testing of such products.
