Job Description

Job overview

The post holder will be operationally responsible for energy and utility services, including:

  • Energy and utility management and regulatory compliance
  • Management of on-site energy generation contracts and EMS
  • Contract management with third-party service and fuel suppliers
  • Development of a building energy efficiency programme
  • Promoting efficient utility resource use and reducing energy demand and carbon footprint
  • Identifying and developing demand reduction initiatives and supporting their implementation and monitoring
  • Assessing and implementing relevant technologies for energy demand reduction
  • Reporting energy use, carbon impact, and costs
  • Acting as the point of contact with external agencies and suppliers, including acting as lead Responsible Person during inspections
Main duties

In addition to the above, the post holder will:

  • Manage the Trust's Energy Performance contracts and attend related meetings
  • Lead the UK Emissions Trading Scheme, DEC's, EPC's, ERIC returns, and other environmental compliance activities
  • Monitor and review environmental regulation impacts and lead implementation
  • Maintain systems for monitoring and targeting energy and utility consumption
  • Provide expert advice to support the Trust's energy and emissions targets
  • Assist in setting energy and utility budgets

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in engineering, energy, environmental management, or equivalent experience
  • Specialist knowledge in energy supply, legislation, targeting, and technologies
  • Knowledge of healthcare/engineering guidance for policy development
  • CPD in relevant subjects and Chartered membership of a professional body such as IEMA
  • Qualifications in carbon reporting
  • Experience in large organizations, NHS, and healthcare energy services
  • Experience with environmental management systems and delivering sustainability initiatives
Skills
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, delegation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to develop professional relationships across organizational levels
