Job Description
Employment Associate / Senior Associate 3+ PQE Birmingham

We are working with a highly regarded national law firm seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor with 3+ years' PQE to join its top-ranked Birmingham team at Associate or Senior Associate level. This is an excellent opportunity to join a Tier 1 employment practice advising leading education institutions and a broad range of commercial clients on complex and high-profile matters.

The Role
  • Advise on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Manage Employment Tribunal claims from inception through to conclusion.
  • Provide day-to-day advisory support on employee relations, disciplinary, grievance, restructuring and strategic HR matters.
  • Act for a substantial client base of universities, colleges and educational institutions across the UK.
  • Support a diverse commercial client portfolio across sectors including health and care, automotive, manufacturing, retail and more.
  • Deliver client training sessions, seminars and legal updates.
  • Assist with business development initiatives and help grow the firm's profile across key sectors.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across a large national employment, pensions and immigration team on cross-office matters.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years' PQE in employment law.
  • Strong experience gained within a reputable employment practice.
  • Experience handling both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Ability to manage Employment Tribunal matters with appropriate autonomy.
  • Commercially aware with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with the confidence to build strong client and internal relationships.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience advising education sector clients or public sector employers.
  • Previous experience supervising or delegating work to junior team members.
  • Interest in business development, networking and client training initiatives.
  • Experience working across multi-office or national teams.
