The salary for this role is £40,609 (including Specialist Allowance of £3,100). Onsite work is expected 4 days a week, with initial months requiring more frequent onsite presence for training and onboarding. Flexible working requests are supported.
This role is based at Culham, Oxfordshire.
Employees must complete an online BPSS check, including DBS checks and possibly open source data searches.
The RoleRACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) is a UKAEA business unit focused on robotic and handling solutions for extreme environments, developing and operating remote handling solutions using advanced robotics and automation technologies. From our Culham facility, we deliver innovative projects globally. Join us as an Electrical Quality Engineer to shape the future of fusion energy remote handling systems.
Responsibilities- Produce electrical quality documentation for complex remote handling systems.
- Oversee planning, design, and implementation of electrical installations across projects.
- Review schematics and BOMs for prototype and operational equipment.
- Review and approve high-quality layout designs for equipment, enclosures, and panels.
- Share knowledge, promote quality culture, collect manufacturing quality data, and communicate project status.
- Maintain detailed documentation including system requirements and technical reports.
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of electrical design standards (e.g., BS7671, BSEN60204).
- Practical experience in electrical systems build and installation.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines with high-quality work.
- Flexible attitude, capable of working independently or in teams.
- Knowledge of governance, H&S, and compliance issues.
- Knowledge of relevant quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, Machining Directive).
- Incorporated engineer or working towards it.
- Experience with safety-critical Quality Management Systems, e.g., aerospace or military.
