Job Description Summary:Nadara is a global renewable energy company and one of Europe's largest independent power producers. In the UK, Nadara has over 1GW of operational onshore wind.
You will be a member of the Asset Maintenance department responsible for ensuring our assets can operate safely for the long term. The department is building an internal team to maintain UK Balance of Plant and turbine HV equipment. The Electrical O&M Engineer - Senior Specialist will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager, managing the Electrical O&M team and completing onsite work. You will ensure the team meets KPIs, including minimizing response times during faults and maintaining high standards during maintenance in low wind months.
Job Responsibilities:- As a Senior Authorised Person, responsible for routine HV switching operations (up to 66kV).
- Coordinate with Planning and Asset Management teams for scheduling annual HV preventative maintenance, aligning with outages, other works, or low wind periods.
- Write risk assessments and method statements to ensure safety standards.
- Perform annual preventative maintenance on Balance of Plant and wind turbine HV equipment, documenting work with reports and photos.
- Recommend, cost, and execute remedial works to reduce component failure risk.
- Support stock management of electrical components for efficient repairs.
- Attend sites, including out of hours, to troubleshoot electrical failures and restore operations safely.
- Supervise other electrical contractors when necessary.
Essential:
- Strong focus on Health and Safety, with knowledge of UK legislation and guidance.
- Ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, ideally remotely.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Approachable, with mentoring and training skills.
Essential:
- Experience in writing Risk Assessments & Method Statements for maintenance and fault finding.
- Managing preventative maintenance on HV electrical equipment.
- Reporting on maintenance with recommendations for improvements.
- Experience with IR, winding resistance, TTR tests on transformers (50kVA - 3000kVA).
- Oil sampling from transformers.
- Locating underground cable faults, preferably on wind farms or renewable sites.
- Performing IR testing on underground HV cables.
- Operating and maintaining HV switchgear.
- Interpreting electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
- Building and maintaining supplier relationships.
Desirable:
- Writing procedures for maintenance and testing.
- Interpreting protection relay and grid analyser data.
- Performing VLF testing on HV cables.
- Understanding protection settings and grading.
Essential:
- Issuing Permit to Work, Limitation of Access, and Sanction for Test as a Senior Authorised Person.
- Experience with cross-boundary isolations.
- Preventative maintenance on HV switchgear, transformers, and electrical equipment.
- Finding and resolving electrical faults with test equipment.
- Managing a team.
Desirable:
- Experience on-call support for site emergencies.
- Experience at wind, solar, or renewable sites.
- Knowledge of Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
Essential:
- Senior Authorised Person (at least 33kV) with HV switching experience.
- Background in Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with Single Line Diagrams.
Desirable:
- GWO training and wind turbine climbing experience.
- Frequent UK site visits, including out of hours, and occasional European travel.
