Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Design Engineer - Services to join Rolls-Royce Submarines. You will work as part of a team consisting of mechanical, systems, and EC&I engineers, utilizing support from other functions around the Submarines Business as needed. Components and systems delivered to the dockyard generally support the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) during maintenance periods.

What you will be doing:

The projects are fast-paced with challenging delivery dates. It is essential that the applicant is pragmatic, proactive, and comfortable managing ambiguity. This is an exciting time to join a growing part of the Submarines business.

  • Undertake or support all design tasks from scoping and initial design to safety documentation and supporting procurement through manufacturing, testing, and supply of components.
  • Produce high-standard technical reports and operating manuals.
  • Ensure delivery within cost, specification, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed plans and estimates aligned with business objectives.

  • Experience as a Project or Technical Coordinator in a service, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
  • Design experience in electrical controls and instrumentation, with a solid understanding of electrical design principles.
  • Understanding of the design process from scoping to delivery.
  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ideally, experience related to submarine NSRP design work.
