We are Rolls-Royce SMR and we're doing something that's never been done before. We're revolutionising an industry. That's a once-in-a-career opportunity for those excited by such a challenge. This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior Electrical Design Engineer, to be involved in industry-leading, cutting-edge design projects for a new type of power station.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review and agree on high-level electrical requirements, including their testability.
  2. Analyze and translate high-level requirements into a validated design for the electrical system/component.
  3. Capture applicable design constraints (must meet conditions) and quality attributes (may be traded) that apply to the system/component.
  4. Document requirements and constraints in line with project processes for interface and requirement management (e.g., requirements captured in IBM DOORS).
  5. Design and implement electrical designs to meet the specified inputs.
  6. Collaborate with the Verification team to define verification activities.
  7. Analyze electrical designs for functional behaviour, including modelling and simulation to demonstrate compliance with high-level requirements. Develop and review electrical tests to provide evidence that requirements are satisfied.
  8. Participate in capacity planning and contribute to the development of long-term strategic goals for the team, in conjunction with managers.
  9. Identify and mitigate risks.
  10. Develop, implement, document, and maintain policies, procedures, guidelines, tools, and training as required.
  11. Develop knowledge to provide advice/support to project teams and/or integrated product teams (IPT).
  12. Represent the electrical engineering area in meetings, working groups, and project teams as assigned.
  13. Work across power station engineering teams to deliver standardisation and a commoditised approach to system and component development.
  14. Ensure quality throughout the project lifecycle by conducting technical reviews and providing electrical engineering inputs to project review gates.
  15. Discuss electrical system design with external organisations, including nuclear safety regulators, potential customers, and suppliers.
