EHS Manager Reporting to: Operations Manager Location: Ireland, Cahir, Co. Tipperary & project sites as required

We deliver design, fabrication, procurement, installation, maintenance, commissioning, and full turnkey engineering projects across a wide range of industries, from rural installations to large-scale international ports.

Role Overview

Buttimer Engineering is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join our growing team. This is a key role within the business, providing expert guidance and hands on across all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Welfare matters.

The successful candidate will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and play a vital role in embedding and maintaining high safety standards across all projects and operations.

The Role

  • Oversee the Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to implement and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Develop and maintain Site-Specific Construction EHS Plans.
  • Act as SME for all High Risk Activities (HRAs), ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and effectively controlled.
  • Support the development and coordination of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Deliver and coordinate mandatory EHS training across the business, ensuring full compliance and up-to-date certification for all staff and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the development and rollout of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including training and communication to employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are prequalified in line with Buttimer protocols and correctly assigned to projects.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigation, and follow up in accordance with company procedures and notification protocols.
  • Deliver regular safety communications, including weekly Toolbox Talks and Safety Alerts.
  • Ensure statutory inspections are completed, recorded, and maintained within the company Safety Management System (SharePoint).
  • Provide ongoing EHS documentation and project support as required.
  • Carry out any additional duties necessary to support the effective operation of the business.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of five years' experience in Environmental Health and Safety role in a similar business.
  • Experience in construction would be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the organisation
  • Strong team player with a flexible and adaptable approach
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required
Qualifications
  • Relevant Health and Safety Diploma / or Degree.
