ERO provides economic outlooks and insights to support strategic planning, business promotion, credit control, and risk management. ERO London is one of its four global research functions and is responsible for the economic analysis of the EMEA region. NUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS 0 MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The main purpose of the role is to provide timely analysis and insights on European macroeconomic and political developments, supporting strategic planning and business development across the bank. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct comprehensive analysis of key macroeconomic trends in Europe, including GDP, inflation, labor markets, and monetary policy in the UK and the eurozone. Monitor and interpret political developments and policy changes, assessing their impact on economic performance and financial markets. Prepare and deliver European macroeconomic reports, presentations, and strategic briefings for internal stakeholders and the bank's clients. Support the Head of Economic Research Office (ERO) London in developing forecasts and maintaining economic models. Collaborate with teams in New York and Tokyo, as well as other business units, to develop integrated intelligence on the European economy and the global outlook. Take ownership of one or more recurring processes and reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Serve as an analytical or procedural expert representing the Economic Research Office (ERO) in cross-functional initiatives and project deliverables. Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by the Head of Economic Research Office (ERO) London and senior executives. WORK EXPERIENCE Essential: Experience in a data-intensive macroeconomic research environmentPreferred: Work experience in private banks, central banks, IMF, World Bank, OECD, EBRD or think tanks SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Functional / Technical Competencies: Essential Professional writing and speaking skills in English Deep knowledge of the European economy and economic theoryPreferred: Fluency in European languages in addition to English Education / Qualifications: Essential Bachelor's degree in Economics or equivalent work experiencePreferred: Master's in Economics, MBA, or CFA PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS Excellent communication skills Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability A proactive, motivated approach A structured and logical approach to work A creative and innovative approach to work Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong numerical skills Excellent Microsoft Office skills; Knowledge of Macrobond and Bloomberg data plat form preferredWe are open to considering flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.MUFG is committed to embracing diversity and building an inclusive culture where all employees are valued, respected and their opinions count.
