Job Description

Salary range: £44,685- £48,003 incl. London weighting
Contract: Fixed Term (12 months) -starting September 2026
Hours of work: 36 hours
Location: Civic Centre and early years settings based visits as well as other locations from time to time

Brent Early Years SEND Quality Assurance Officer

Responsibilities
  • Support, monitor, evaluate and audit the impact and effectiveness of SEN provision and inclusion funding (SENIF) spend for young children with additional needs across the borough attending Private, Voluntary and Independent nurseries, childminders, school-based nursery classes and enhanced provisions.
  • Promote high quality early years provision for SEND and conduct financial auditing of settings to ensure best value and outcomes.
  • Use Ofsted inspection outcomes, local authority quality frameworks and agreed performance indicators to monitor quality.
  • Advise early years staff, parents/carers and stakeholders on high quality support and best value for money.
  • Travel within the borough visiting EY education settings.
Person Specification
  • Experienced early years/teaching professional with a strong background supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent child development knowledge, commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities, and understanding of early years and SEND legislation.
  • Experience in monitoring and auditing early years settings, strong financial management or auditing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills; confident liaising with parents/carers, staff and stakeholders.
  • Decision making ability and the capacity to work collaboratively to achieve best outcomes.
  • Eligibility for Enhanced DBS check and other employment clearances.
