Drama Graduate - Secondary School Cover Supervisor

Location: Swindon
Salary: £100 - £130 per day, depending on experience and the role Weekly PAYE pay

About the Opportunity

Are you a Drama Graduate or current Drama student looking to gain valuable experience working with young people? Do you have the confidence to engage an audience, command a room, and think on your feet? Connex Education is seeking enthusiastic, confident, and adaptable individuals to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity for those considering a future career in teaching, youth work, educational support, or the performing arts. As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom when a teacher is absent, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set. Your strong communication skills, presence, and ability to build rapport will help create a positive learning environment for students aged 11-16. No previous school experience is required. We provide full training, ongoing guidance, and dedicated support before you begin working in schools.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supervising classes of up to 30 students across a variety of subjects.
  • Delivering pre planned lessons and ensuring students remain focused on their learning.
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Supporting students with their work and encouraging participation.
  • Acting as a positive role model within the school environment.
  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.

About You
  • A Drama degree, Drama related qualification, or current study towards a Drama qualification.
  • Confident speaking in front of groups and leading an audience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An engaging, energetic, and professional approach.
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people and education.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and willing to learn.
  • Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.
