About the job.
National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Drainage Engineer to join our Drainage team in the South East region. In this role, you will identify and evaluate asset data and needs to develop early solutions, in line with established methodologies and prioritisation criteria, and design highway renewal and maintenance schemes.
This position can be based in Basingstoke, Guildford, or Maidstone, with a balance of remote and office-based work.
Requirements:
- You must be able to drive as part of your role, with no more than 3 penalty points on your driving license, both for consideration and during employment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop early solutions for drainage improvements and renewals, including compiling relevant documents, supporting value management, and considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
- Ensure asset data and condition information are captured and maintained in relevant databases, following standards and timelines.
- Identify, prepare briefs, and support the delivery of survey works to support drainage asset improvements and renewals.
- Develop technical briefs for external design contractors regarding improvement and renewal works.
- Design highway renewal and maintenance schemes for drainage assets.
About you.
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering (or similar), with vocational experience in drainage or highways.
- Experience promoting drainage renewal schemes/projects and working within budgets.
- Knowledge of DMRB standards and their application, along with good understanding of CDM 2015 regulations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of highway drainage maintenance techniques and mitigation methods.
