Job overviewWe are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to join our team at Newland House in Northampton. Your duties will include general cleaning of the patient, public and staff areas as set by your allocated cleaning schedule. You will be required to work to, and maintain standards as set by the NHS National Cleaning Specifications. Enthusiasm and dedication to provide a clean safe environment is essential.
Shift Pattern: 15 hour per week, Monday - Friday 6am - 9am, This shift pattern is subject to change.
Main duties of the jobSome of the main duties of this job include:
- Providing a high quality domestic service in a way that is conducive to patient care ensuring legislative and policies are adhered to.
- Follow cleaning specifications and use appropriate equipment and materials.
- Work closely with other staff to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
- To carry out floor maintenance i.e. mopping & displaying "wet floor" warning cones. Shampoo carpets and corridor mats on a systematic basis.
- Removing waste and clinical waste bags ensuring correct bags and procedures are followed.
- Use chemicals/cleaning agents in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. To only use chemicals which are supplied by the Trust and store under lock and key ensuring COSHH regulations are adhered to.
- Machinery used in a safe manner as per instructions/training.
- Undertake deep clean, clinical clean, admission and infection cleans as required by infection control procedure including removal, laundering, and hanging of curtains.
- To observe the colour coded cleaning system used within the wards, health centres and departments.
- Wear the protective clothing and uniform supplied by the Trust, maintaining a neat and tidy appearance and high standards of personal hygiene.
- Complete Trust mandatory training in a timely manner; attend meetings, one to ones and appraisal meetings. Keep self-informed on Trust matters.

Person specification Knowledge- General education including literacy and numeracy
- An understanding of the importance of health and safety
- An understanding of the importance of hygiene
- Experience in a similar role or industry
- Ability to interpret and action written instructions
