Job Description

Disrepair Surveyor £43.79 per hour Inside IR35 (via umbrella) Initial 6-month contract Immediate start London Local Authority Hybrid working - 3 days on-site per week

As a Disrepair Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in protecting housing standards, resolving complex disrepair cases and driving quality across a large residential portfolio. Reporting into senior housing and asset leads, you will be trusted to manage multiple cases, influence contractors and work closely with legal, compliance and building safety teams.

Your Role as Disrepair Surveyor:
  • Lead disrepair inspections, assessments and site visits, ensuring works meet specification, cost and compliance standards
  • Deliver a resident focused approach, engaging directly with occupants to understand, document and resolve concerns
  • Design and specify remedial works, obtain estimates, oversee delivery, monitor spend and complete final sign off
  • Audit and challenge partnering contractors, reviewing completed works, schedules and invoices to drive quality
  • Work closely with repairs, legal and building safety teams, ensuring legislation, health & safety and compliance are met

You will maintain accurate digital records, update asset management systems and produce clear management reports. Collaboration will be central to your success, particularly when supporting dispute resolution and escalating complex risks appropriately.

Your Previous Experience as a Disrepair Surveyor:
  • Proven experience in residential building surveying and managing disrepair cases
  • Strong background in administering building and partnering contracts
  • Hands on experience with Stock Condition Surveys and HHSRS assessments
  • Sound knowledge of housing legislation, repairs, maintenance and asbestos regulations
  • Confident in report writing, stakeholder communication and using Microsoft Word and Excel
