Disaster Recovery Solution Design Lead
Contract: 6 months (strong potential for extension)
IR35 status: Outside IR35
The Opportunity
Our client, a major critical-infrastructure organisation, is seeking an experienced Disaster Recovery Lead to design and deliver a brand-new third-site disaster recovery capability.
You will take the programme from assessment through to implementation planning: reviewing the current environment, defining recovery requirements, shaping the target solution, producing detailed designs, and guiding delivery alongside infrastructure, security, networking and application teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assessing current backup, recovery and resilience capabilities
- Defining recovery requirements, including RTO and RPO targets
- Designing the third-site disaster recovery solution
- Producing High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs)
- Defining recovery runbooks, operational procedures and recovery workflows
- Leading technology evaluations and reviewing supplier proposals
- Defining recovery approaches across infrastructure, applications, databases and identity platforms
- Supporting DR testing and operational readiness
- Presenting designs to technical and governance boards
- Working closely with cross-functional teams throughout delivery
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years in infrastructure, recovery or technical design roles
- Hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise DR and data protection solutions, including backup, replication, immutable storage, recovery vaults and DR orchestration
- Experience with air-gapped recovery solutions and cyber recovery vaults
- A track record of producing HLDs and LLDs
- Strong grounding in recovery strategy, business continuity and resilience planning
Please Note
This role requires candidates who have personally designed and delivered enterprise disaster recovery, backup recovery solutions. Applicants whose background is primarily in security operations, IAM, SIEM, governance, risk, compliance or cloud security will not be considered - this is not a Technical/Infra role - this is more advisory on designing the DR solution.
