Job Description

  • Lead Government Affairs, Policy and Access work across the Europe and International region, focusing on Brussels, EUR5 markets, Canada and Japan

  • Evolve and deliver the overarching strategy and advocacy plan with the Head of GAPA and other Directors

  • Develop regional and global market-shaping campaigns and engage politicians, policy makers, advocacy groups and influencers

  • Gather, interpret and respond to external policy developments

  • Work collaboratively across the GAPA team to develop policy positions, evidence, materials, brand-plan inputs and internal awareness

  • Provide strategic guidance on external developments, implications and business recommendations

  • Map stakeholders and build relationships with EU officials, politicians, policy makers, advocacy organisations, community groups and think tanks

  • Support local government affairs and policy teams across European and International markets

  • Co-create market-level materials and strategies and define gold-standard functional outcomes

  • Develop joint initiatives with Communications, Positive Action, Patient Engagement, Access and GSK counterparts

  • Directly line manage one Manager and coach colleagues across the team and wider functions

  • Travel as required


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Public Health, Life Sciences, Law or a related discipline

  • Significant experience in government affairs, policy and advocacy within the life sciences sector, including in-house experience

  • Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with senior government officials, policy makers and advocacy organisations across multiple markets, notably EUR5, especially the UK, and in Brussels

  • Experience running and contributing to impactful pan-European/cross-market initiatives and campaigns to drive policy change

  • Cross-functional working experience, particularly with communications, market access and patient engagement

  • First-class written and oral presentation skills

  • Excellent political acumen and insights

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • LOC/affiliate in-market experience, especially the UK preferred

  • Experience across multiple disease areas and products, including launches preferred

  • People management experience preferred

  • Experience working directly in politics or policy with a strong political network and insights preferred

  • Experience delivering training and coaching preferred
