Director & Associate Counsel

Position Summary

Position Summary: The candidate will join the Legal Team and be responsible for negotiating and managing documentation in support of the Company's sales, trading, technical and financing activities. Based in Dublin, the Director & Associate Counsel will benefit from the support and experience of the Legal team, members of Carlyle Aviation Partners senior management in Miami and Dublin, as well as external industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate, manage, and direct the sales, leasing and financing of aviation assets, from letters of intent through definitive transaction documentation.
• Manage deal teams in support of the Company's sales, trading, technical and financing activities.
• Identify and resolve legal issues in the context of commercial objectives, including contract compliance, lease default management, lease restructurings, aircraft repossessions and associated litigation and bankruptcy matters.
• Negotiate and manage a wide range of lease and asset management documentation, including redelivery agreements, technical agreements and miscellaneous fleet support.
• Coordinate outside counsel in diverse foreign jurisdictions to maximize efficiency and control legal costs, in consultation with senior members of the Legal team and outside transaction counsel.

Qualifications

• Qualified to practice law in the United States, England and Wales, or Ireland.
• At least 6 years of international legal experience in the aviation leasing industry.
• Strong commercial acumen, decision making skills, and a willingness to learn about contractual aspects of the aircraft leasing industry.
• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
• Excellent conceptual thinking, problem solving, and communication skills - both written and oral.
• Self motivated, independent, adaptable, and creative.
• Ability to operate effectively at all levels, internally and externally.
• First class communication skills; multilinguistic ability is a definite plus.
