Company: Our client, a top boutique consultancy

Our client, a highly regarded boutique consultancy, is looking for an experienced Director of Financial Modelling to lead and grow its Financial Modelling practice. This is a pivotal leadership role, combining advanced technical expertise with strategic consulting to deliver impactful solutions for a wide range of clients.

You will spearhead the design and execution of sophisticated financial models that support decision-making across strategic initiatives, investments, performance analysis, and more. In addition to delivering top-tier client outcomes, you will mentor a team of high-performing analysts and contribute to the growth of the firm's broader Data & Technology consulting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a portfolio of financial modelling engagements, ensuring consistent, high-quality outputs aligned with client goals.
  • Build and review complex, customised models for valuation, forecasting, budgeting, scenario analysis, and capital structure optimisation.
  • Develop and enhance modelling methodologies, best practices, and internal standards to ensure technical excellence and reliability.
  • Provide coaching, training, and career development support to junior team members.
  • Translate complex financial concepts into clear insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the consultancy to embed modelling solutions in broader strategy and transformation work.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand their commercial objectives and craft tailored modelling strategies.
  • Support business development through proposal development, client meetings, and thought leadership in the market.

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial modelling within a consultancy or corporate finance environment.
  • A recognised finance qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, CFA) and a 2:1 or higher degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Deep technical proficiency in Excel-based model development, alongside a strong grounding in financial analysis, valuation, and corporate finance.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Strong commercial instincts and the ability to engage confidently with senior clients.
  • Excellent project management skills - able to lead multiple concurrent engagements to deadline and budget.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • A track record of contributing to client engagement and business development efforts.
