DEVELOPMENT CONTROL PLANNING DELIVERY TEAM LEADER

There is a period of significant change in the planning system both in plan making and decision making and this post will be key in through this period of change.

The Borough Council has a small, but very effective Development Control Team which handles a wide variety of applications ranging from major residential and commercial proposals to householder, agricultural and other applications.Officers have the opportunity to experience the varied nature of applications which are reflective of the character of the Borough and it is an exciting time with a number of regeneration initiatives underway.

Responsible for Development Control functions relating to all proposals under the general supervision of the Planning Manager you will be key in leading the development control team and delivering a quality service.

You will be expected to lead the Development Control Team, including leading, mentoring, and developing staff, as well as championing a modern, efficient service whilst enabling high quality sustainable development across the Borough.

In this post you'll play an integral part in the team ensuring planning applications are determined in line with statutory deadlines and that planning decisions lead to positive outcomes.You will work closely with other officers across the planning team, as well as our Elected Members and external partners.You will have opportunities to engage in a range of agendas including helping to shape the Borough's Design Code, Policies and Guidance, and helping to implement the upcoming changes for planning in the 2022 Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill.
