Design Technology (DT) Teacher - KS3 & KS4 Secondary School

Location: Secondary School
Start Date: New Academic Year
Contract Type: Long-term / Supply (potential for full-time)
Pay Rate: Competitive daily rates (PAYE)

Job Description

The successful Design Technology Teacher will play a key role in delivering engaging workshop-based lessons, developing technical skills, and encouraging problem-solving, innovation, and independent thinking in students.

This opportunity suits an experienced DT Teacher, an ECT, or a specialist practitioner looking to secure a long-term Design Technology teaching job within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4
  • Deliver practical and theory-based DT lessons
  • Support students in developing design, making, and evaluation skills
  • Promote safe working practices in workshops and classrooms
  • Differentiate lessons to meet a range of abilities
  • Work collaboratively within the DT and wider technology department

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Design Technology at KS3 and/or KS4
  • Knowledge of at least one DT specialism (e.g. Resistant Materials, Product Design, Graphics, Food Technology, Engineering)
  • Strong classroom and workshop management skills
  • A passion for Design Technology and student achievement
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
