Design Engineer

You will join an established engineering and manufacturing business based in the Newry area. Due to current project requirements and workload, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial 3-month contract.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical mechanical design and wants to get involved with live engineering and manufacturing projects.

Your new role

As Design Engineer, you will work closely with the wider engineering and production teams, supporting ongoing design requirements and ensuring drawings and designs are suitable for manufacture.Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing and updating 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
• Supporting the design and development of mechanical equipment and components
• Making modifications and improvements to existing designs
• Producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Working closely with production and fabrication teams
• Supporting design changes and resolving engineering issues
• Ensuring designs are practical, accurate and suitable for manufacture
• Maintaining engineering drawings and associated technical documentation

What you'll need to succeed:

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer or CAD Engineer
• Strong 3D CAD capability
• Experience producing detailed engineering/manufacturing drawings
• A good understanding of manufacturing, fabrication and Design for Manufacture
• A practical approach to engineering and problem-solving
• The ability to work effectively with production and engineering teams
• An Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Design qualification would be advantageous

Most importantly, you'll be comfortable joining an established engineering environment and getting up to speed quickly.
